Nuteje America is an NGO dedicated to eradicating malnutrition in children. Zapatera Island is a remote island with a population in extreme poverty with no running water. The project is to lay a pipeline to pump water from the lake to the village, filter the water and then store it in a tank. The project overall strives to nourish 65 children daily (supporting 80 families). The funds will be used for pipes, trench digging, installation of the pump, filtration system and construction of a water tower. Another source of funding has been secured for maintenance of the equipment.
